The ceremony was marked by a drum tribute from Eagle Elk Council Pipe and the White Buffalo Singers and the presentation of a Lifetime Achievement Award for Exceptional Leadership in Safety for Daryl Bacquet accepted by his wife, Sharon. Other Bacquet family members were in attendance.

The person distinguished by peers as this year’s leader in the promotion of safety at CHLA is Erwin Morales, Engineering Manager. He was nominated for his involvement in safety for all staff, encouragement of employees to follow regulations to better serve our patients and staff, and by going above and beyond. With the award, came a prize of $250 from a Foundation special fund established by the Bacquet family in Daryl’s memory.

Congratulations again to all the other Safety Award nominees: Julie Fiore, Barbara Hollen, Mary Kearns-Jonkers, Ana Menjivar, Ken Mitsuhata, Donna Newell, Sherry Nolan, Donald Sebek, Steve Snitzer, Kathleen Stevenson, James Tokita and Elba Toledo.

And special thanks to the many people who helped make it special - the Daryl Bacquet Safety Award Selection Committee (Dr. Glenn Takata, Nancy Blake, Santiago Chambers, Bob Hollowell, Sharon Chinn, Jennifer Kozakowski, Jose Mogollon, and Lisa Schiller), Tish Rodriguez, and Food Services to name a few.
